On Saturday, October 22 – during a beautiful fall Homecoming Weekend on our Bristol campus – a special Donor Recognition Ceremony took place honoring the founding donors to RWU’s new and versatile Turf Field Complex. The ceremony was held during half-time of the Men’s Varsity Soccer match, on the very impressive, state-of-the-art turf field that the donors’ generous support helped to build.
Director of Athletics, Dave Kemmy, welcomed the donors in attendance out onto the field and introduced President Donald J. Farish, who addressed the large audience of alumni, students, parents and friends gathered in the brand new stadium seating. President Farish explained that the Turf Field Complex has revitalized the entire University community – a community dedicated to the philosophy that athletic competition develops leadership skills, integrity, courage and the ability to work with others towards accomplishing a common goal.
With its new scoreboard, press box, environmentally sensitive lighting and all-weather, grass-like look and performance turf, the complex offers dramatically increased competitive and recreational athletics opportunities. President Farish expressed the University’s great appreciation to the over 50 – individual and corporate – founding donors for their very generous support and leadership in this campaign.
Numerous opportunities still exist for supporters wishing to contribute, at any level, to the complex, including: naming of a seat and/or permanent chair back plaque, naming rights to the field, the press box, entrance pavilions and more. Contributions will help to ensure the care and maintenance of the field in perpetuity.
